About Jade
Jade is prized in China and across East Asia as a stone of luck, long life and harmony. Two different minerals — nephrite and jadeite — are both called jade.
Especially significant in East Asian traditions as a luck and longevity stone.
History & folklore
In China, jade was valued more than gold, and emperors were buried in jade suits. Confucius said jade represents virtue. The Maya and Aztecs also treasured it, and in New Zealand, the Maori carve pounamu (greenstone) into sacred heirlooms.

Where it comes from
Jadeite comes mainly from Myanmar; nephrite comes from China, Canada, New Zealand and Russia. Many green stones sold as 'jade' are serpentine, aventurine or dyed quartz.
