What you'll need

A soft cord about 75 cm long, a small bowl, and a notebook.

Words to speak

“This day has reached its resting place. What remains can wait upon the page. For this moment, I loosen my hold.”

Say them as written, or put them in your own words — sincerity matters more than exact phrasing.

How to do it

At the beginning of the week, tie seven loose knots in a line, naming one kind of thought you tend to carry into the evening with each — unfinished work, self-criticism, tomorrow's plans, another concern. Keep the cord in the bowl. Each evening, write one concern and one next step for dealing with it at an appropriate time, then untie one knot while taking three comfortable breaths, say the words, and set the cord down — stop there rather than adding more tasks. Continue for seven evenings, releasing one knot each time; if you miss an evening, resume without adding a penalty.

Afterward

After the seventh evening, review your notes and choose which concerns need action, support, or no further attention. This is a reflective bedtime practice, not a promise of sleep or a treatment for sleeplessness.

Safety
  • Never tie cord around a person, animal or yourself in a way that restricts movement or breathing. Knot magic is symbolic.
  • Spells support real-world action; they don't replace medical, legal, financial or safety help.
